Sawyer & Company Unveils Design of Whiskey Charlie, Cocktail Lounge Set Atop the Canopy by Hilto
Our team is pleased to unveil our latest project, Whiskey Charlie - crowning the first ever North American Canopy by Hilton in Washington, DC. Having opened this November at the Wharf District of D.C, as part of the sparkling new multi-use riverside development encompassing hotels, retail, restaurants, and leisure activities, the 175-room Canopy by Hilton Washington D.C., The Wharf features stunning multi-use public spaces, the Canopy Central café and bar, Transfer Lounge, Guest Retreat with an outdoor garden, guestrooms, suites and corridors that embody our signature natural luxury design sensibility. Additionally, on the tenth floor of the newly developed hotel, we have designed a singular rooftop bar and social experience – Whiskey Charlie – featuring an expansive terrace with panoramic views over the Potomac River and the historic skyline of Washington, DC.
Located along the Southwest Waterfront, Whiskey Charlie boasts spectacular views of the Washington Channel, as well as D.C.’s iconic monument and memorials. As part of the greater development, Whiskey Charlie offers a premium destination rooftop cocktail bar and lounge for hotel guests, residents and visitors of The Wharf. The name is a nod to the proud maritime history and active waterfront location; “Whiskey Charlie”, or “WC”, is the call signal for boat captains entering the Washington Channel. Patrons will enjoy breathtaking waterfront views along with a curated menu of craft cocktails, light bites, best-in-class service and inviting atmosphere all couched in signature Sawyer & Company design sensibilities.
Ten floors up, the 2,200-square-foot space, designed by our team of interior design experts, features an outdoor rooftop terrace with seating coves, fire pits and large planters. The glass-enclosed interior lounge boasts reclaimed wood, porcelain and metallic tiles to create an intimate bar with panoramic views from Rosslyn to National Harbor. Given its location and luxuriously informal décor, Whiskey Charlie is the perfect meeting spot before a show at The Anthem or after dinner drinks with a group of friends, and amplifies the exciting waterfront property’s convivial and social atmosphere.

The intimate roof top bar perched up on the top floor was designed around the amazing views, with drink rails along the glass façade and materials reflecting the golden hour.”
